Barry and Katrina: A story of Miracles

In sports parlance, Barry was a flagrant foul waiting to happen. Raised in a power and control environment, he grew to resent and distrust authority figures. Labeled a frustrated, angry troublemaker, Barry obliged, living down to those expectations. His crime was being a free spirit in a world made for the corral.

In sports parlance, Katrina was a team player – someone who would win the coaches’ award for her good sportsmanship and positive attitude. She was the soloist at church, the teacher’s pet at school, and the debutante at home. Labeled a sincere, compliant, and well-adjusted dreamchild, Katrina happily obliged, living up to those expectations.

Neither identity was healthy in their extremes – Barry caring very little about the approval of others and Katrina caring too much. Fortunately, life has a way of moderating extremes.

A series of miracles brought Barry and Katrina together – the unlikeliest of couples. Another series of miracles kept them together – the unlikeliest of outcomes. Meanwhile, this merging of very different lives changed them both – the biggest miracle of all.
